Blackberry Storm: First Look Review

Blackberry Storm: First Look Review

RIM recently announced the unveiling of a new Smartphone they have dubbed the Blackberry Bold. The Blackberry Bold includes many new features that RIM has never included on any of the current or previous Blackberry phones. The major “first” is that the Blackberry Bold is the first model to include 3G HDSPA technology. The resolution on the screen is also higher than on previous Blackberry models and with the addition of support while the user works with Microsoft office files, working with the Blackberry Bold will make it substantially easier than it was with any of the earlier Blackberry models.

The screen size on the Blackberry Bold measures around 480 x 320, which makes it large enough for a user to comfortably view mobile video and long emails. This larger display area means the Blackberry Bold has to be larger than previous Blackberry phones, but in spite of the size increase, it is still lightweight with a keyboard that is easy to operate. Another first for this model is the inclusion of Blackberry 4.6, the newest version of the Blackberry operating system. It has a 624 MHz processor and in addition to being the first Blackberry with 3G HSDPA high speed networking, it also has GPS and Wi-Fi.

Prior to the introduction of the Blackberry Bold, working with Microsoft Office files was rather obsolete, but new technology by RIM includes the DataViz Documents to Go. It is a more stable program that is considered a premium program among Mobile Office suite software. Documents to Go allows you to view documents and presentations almost the same as you would be able to view them on a desktop PC.  This is a definite advantage for those who do a great deal of traveling and rely on their Blackberry for communications with their office and clients. Remember, however, that you may only be able to view Microsoft documents but not edit them.

Since the Blackberry Bold is not yet available in all global markets, you may need to search a little bit to find a Blackberry Bold review that will allow you enough information to make a decision about upgrading to this Blackberry model. The features are designed with both the business and personal traveler in mind, so you don’t have to worry about any loss of features with the Blackberry Bold.

As the Blackberry Bold becomes more globally available, you will see a variety of mobile phone deals that will help ease the burden of purchasing the Blackberry Bold. It is certainly the wave of the future in Smartphones and the newest one from RIM. This first 3G phone from RIM provides many features that one would expect from a Blackberry that have not been previously available, and the fact that it includes so many first time features shows that RIM is looking toward a new generation of Smartphones. Read a Blackberry Bold review and you will understand why this model is destined to become more popular than any other model RIM has released.

Keep in mind, Apple, introducing the Iphone, had no cellular device experience before. The maker of the BB has had previous cellular technology experience. Apple has introduced their third phone which now has everything that the BB Storm has, and is more user friendly in my eyes. In addition, the IPhone has the appstore, where you can get just about anything you want in an app.

Got the phone the day it came out and returned it two days later…Found out quickly that phone is not for me…I like quick, simple, responsive devices. You said you are an avid texter. i am too……the touch screen is no fun if u text alot and want to access that function quickly. the phone is a little slow meaning slight delay when you push on the screen going from feature to feature.. they say there will be a software upgrade but who knows when that will come out…also when using the browser, several times the screen went to camera mode and kinda of froze out on me. meaning i couldn't push anything to make the phone do anything.. The touch screen is really a push screen…its cool or not cool depending on what u like…you touch, and it highlights…you push down, the screen kinda depresses and then it selects what u want…this is why i say if you like to text, might be kinda a pain in the rear..If you are allll about the extra features available on the phone and will actually use them, id say good investment, its pretty cool.. but personally i was looking to just text and use a phone and I ended up getting the LG-Voyager and really like it..check it out if that sounds more like "you"

Please, Please Do not get the Blackberry Storm. Although it has good internet the vibration is annoying and if you are used to keys it gets on your nerves. Also the first touch never goes through. also, The VoIP(voice over ip) sucks if you planned on using that feature. Also Verizon although has a good network, after about half a year to eight months they will increase you plan almost doubling it. They did it with my LG chocolate claiming I did not have a data plan. They will find a way to screw you over Then by that time if you want to end your contract you are stuck paying the annoying bill and a termination fee or just the bill and suffer intolerable high prices each month after.

If you are looking at the Iphone I would suggest thinking about the amount of money you are going to have to pay month. It is a better phone than the blackberry storm though in my opinion. Although they offer text packages etc, if you want to use the internet on the phone or use the VoIP you also have to purchase this seperate and their overages are outrageous.

Keep in mind both phones do offer VOIP, GPS navigation(free on Iphone, a charge on blackberry) if those are features that you are looking for as well as both have internet capabilites. With the iphone there is an added bonus the ap store where most applications are free as well as hacking the phone to fit your needs which simply modifies it. The Iphone also supports Itunes and certain file types for music that the blackberry does not if you were planning on using this. SO if you want something that you can modify for you than the Iphone would be the choice.

If you do choice to modify the iphone when you get it the site is called quick pwn. It gives you access to winterboard and much more.

Hope this helps in your descision =]

Its great! I got one for christmas, it was hard to text with at first and was kind of confusing but now im pretty well use to it. The camera is amazing. The internet on it like watching youtube videos and stuff is amazing. The Facebook application is sweet ( you can upload pictures from your phone to facebook! )

I reccomend it, it may be expensive but if money is not an issue its the best out there

I am not sure what you mean by review. The below news article highlights the issues people are having with the handset and Vodafone UK.

in anycase, if you lookup storm vs iphone on youtube, you'll see many people will actually like storm (except browsing) that will be improved i;'m sure

It is definitely much better. I had it before the update, and I was almost ready to return it back. However after the update, things improved allot and i think it is a keeper.
