Blackberry Storm Review
By
The BlackBerry has indeed come a long way since it was first introduced as a two-way pager in 1997 by Research in Motion. Today, if you are looking for a smartphone which supports push e-mail, Internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services – there is no better device to use than the BlackBerry.
This is not to mention the fact that it ‘doubles’ up as a mobile telephone, supporting calls and text messaging. Due to the ingeniousness behind their wireless technology networks, even the manufacturers of typical mobile phones in the market are using the BlackBerry e-mail client.
This is so that the phones that they offer can connect to the BlackBerry servers and use the BlackBerry e-mail client.
Example s of these mobile phones are:
- HTC Advantage X7500
- Motorola MPx220
- Nokia 6810 and 6820
- Nokia 9300 and 9500
- Nokia E50, E51, E60, E61, E62, E70 and E90
- Qtek 9100 and 9000
- Siemens SK64
- Samsung t719
- Sony Ericsson P910, M600i and P1
What You Need to Know about the BlackBerry Bold
For the year 2008, RIM decided to introduce the BlackBerry Bold candybar smartphone to the rest of the world. It had a worldwide release on August 21 of this year.
To learn what the BlackBerry Bold has to offer as a smartphone, here is a list of the features:
- 2-Megapixel camera with flash, digital zoom and video recording
- GPS system with extended ephemeris, A-GPS support
- MP3, media and video player
- Wi-Fi accessibility
- HTML browsing
- 128 MB flash memory, 1GB on-board storage, maximum 16GB external storage
- 3.55 mm stereo audio jack
- 13 days standby and 5 hours talktime
A Detailed Look at the Features of BlackBerry Bold
The good thing about the BlackBerry Bold is that it has HSDPA, Wi-Fi and GPS. Also working in its favor is the full QWERTY keypad and the bright screen resolution.
The candybar smartphone may be a little wide for those who are used to handling slimmer phones. However, it does allow users to enjoy a full QWERTY keypad. When typing away on the complete keypad, you can enjoy seeing it on the widescreen of the BlackBerry Bold.
The manufacturers also decided to overhaul the boring icons by incorporating neon colors on the menu.
When it comes to the features – you will find that the BlackBerry Bold is one nifty device to use. You can access high-seed e-mail and there’s Internet accessibility almost anywhere. One other cool feature that music lovers would appreciate is the inclusion of a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
In addition, the GPS can get you were you need to go. The only downside which can be seen on the BlackBerry Bold is that the 2-Megapixel camera could have been better.
Also, the screen is easily marred and scratched – and the silver chrome casing could have been made of strong metal instead.
If you will find mobile phone deals within the UK which offer the BlackBerry Bold as part of the package – this is something that you should seriously consider because this is one good mobile phone to have.

I’ve had the Curve for two years and I mean, it’s the absolute best thing ever! I was thinking about the Storm, and I agree with you. I was totally put off after this review, it’s so unlike Blackberry! But I have full confidence in all the other phones they have. So I’d still get a BB, just not this:)

Its great! I got one for christmas, it was hard to text with at first and was kind of confusing but now im pretty well use to it. The camera is amazing. The internet on it like watching youtube videos and stuff is amazing. The Facebook application is sweet ( you can upload pictures from your phone to facebook! )
I reccomend it, it may be expensive but if money is not an issue its the best out there

I am not sure what you mean by review. The below news article highlights the issues people are having with the handset and Vodafone UK.

Got the phone the day it came out and returned it two days later…Found out quickly that phone is not for me…I like quick, simple, responsive devices. You said you are an avid texter. i am too……the touch screen is no fun if u text alot and want to access that function quickly. the phone is a little slow meaning slight delay when you push on the screen going from feature to feature.. they say there will be a software upgrade but who knows when that will come out…also when using the browser, several times the screen went to camera mode and kinda of froze out on me. meaning i couldn't push anything to make the phone do anything.. The touch screen is really a push screen…its cool or not cool depending on what u like…you touch, and it highlights…you push down, the screen kinda depresses and then it selects what u want…this is why i say if you like to text, might be kinda a pain in the rear..If you are allll about the extra features available on the phone and will actually use them, id say good investment, its pretty cool.. but personally i was looking to just text and use a phone and I ended up getting the LG-Voyager and really like it..check it out if that sounds more like "you"

the responsiveness has been greatly improved and flow much better, however, you could wait and see when the blackberry storm 2 is going to be available, and i heard from a friend that works at blackberry that they may be releasing it as early as this month, which would be helpful as my contract runs out on the 24th.
So if i were u i would wait a little for the announcement of the storm 2 but i am now very happy with my current storm on the latest firmware. Now there seems to be no lag.

yeah but then again, the touch is always going to be the same, do you still think its worth getting ?
July 11th, 2009 at 2:58 am
its just a very new touch ph by RIM. so theres bound to be flaws. their updates should help out a lot…
in anycase, if you lookup storm vs iphone on youtube, you'll see many people will actually like storm (except browsing) that will be improved i;'m sure

The Curve is good and reliable but I like having the latest/best/prettiest in cell tech so I upgraded my Curve to the Storm. I Love the Storm but a lot of people simply can't get used to it. Take advantage of the 30day exchange policy and check it out (some people are subject to a $35 restock fee for changing devices though, so ask ahead of time if $35 is a deal breaker for you).
The video playback, music playback and enormous amount of apps available make the Storm my fave Blackberry. Free New York Times, Wall St Journal, Newsweek, Pandora, BBTran(slator) as well as shortcuts to Facebook, email, YouTube look very sharp on the Storm too.
Takes about 2 weeks to get used to the touch screen and the rest of the phone totally. Good luck~

OK lets start witht he fact that the link is to a review done BEFORE the last firmware upgrade was released.
This fixed most of the problems with the Storm.
Some users are using a beta version of firmware that will be included in the next release (from a leaked copy that is not supported at all) and say it has improved things a lot more.
I would say get it, put up with the minor problems for a while, and then be pleased when the next firmware upgrade makes it so much better.

First of all Safari doesn't crash may be you don't reboot after installing an app. Even if you don't install app you should reboot it twice a week. It has the smoothest operating system I have even seen.
Storm doesn't have bad reviews it has pathetic reviews. Blackberry has accepted that there is glitch in software so still you wanna buy it then go ahead ….
iPhone has become highest selling phone and it has also become the most favorite phone among business users. It;s among the best gadget of the year so it has now nothing to prove.
My personal experience says Storm is good for nothing it simply doesn't work. Touch screen is jagged, choppy, slow and pokey, There is lag in operating system.
My recommendation is get anything other than Storm.

Please, Please Do not get the Blackberry Storm. Although it has good internet the vibration is annoying and if you are used to keys it gets on your nerves. Also the first touch never goes through. also, The VoIP(voice over ip) sucks if you planned on using that feature. Also Verizon although has a good network, after about half a year to eight months they will increase you plan almost doubling it. They did it with my LG chocolate claiming I did not have a data plan. They will find a way to screw you over Then by that time if you want to end your contract you are stuck paying the annoying bill and a termination fee or just the bill and suffer intolerable high prices each month after.
If you are looking at the Iphone I would suggest thinking about the amount of money you are going to have to pay month. It is a better phone than the blackberry storm though in my opinion. Although they offer text packages etc, if you want to use the internet on the phone or use the VoIP you also have to purchase this seperate and their overages are outrageous.
Keep in mind both phones do offer VOIP, GPS navigation(free on Iphone, a charge on blackberry) if those are features that you are looking for as well as both have internet capabilites. With the iphone there is an added bonus the ap store where most applications are free as well as hacking the phone to fit your needs which simply modifies it. The Iphone also supports Itunes and certain file types for music that the blackberry does not if you were planning on using this. SO if you want something that you can modify for you than the Iphone would be the choice.
If you do choice to modify the iphone when you get it the site is called quick pwn. It gives you access to winterboard and much more.
Hope this helps in your descision =]

You can not get internet on the storm for free… When it says it has no wifi it is right it does not use wifi, it uses 3g( meaning it uses a phone signal to get the internet)… it does have a really good browser and does have it built in, it wouldn't be a blackberry without it
